Obituary of Larry McCormick

Larry McCormick

1951-2024

Larry McCormick passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the age of 72 years.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Diane; step-son, Michael (Elaine); grandchildren, Tara, Christopher, Alisha and Cory as well as great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sister, Audrey (Duane) Common; nephew, Brady; uncles, Brian and Jim Hearn, several cousins as well as three brothers in law and their families. He was predeceased by his father, Albert “Ab” McCormick and his mother, Doreen McCormick (nee Hearn).

Larry loved his home, he was a homebody. He loved the outdoors. Larry enjoyed gardening, barbequing and tinkering around the yard. Sitting out in the sun while reading a good book was one of his favourite things to do in the summer. From time to time, Larry enjoyed travelling to the B.C. to visit with family. Larry was the “families rock” with his conscientious, positive, kind and humorous outlook on life. He also had a passion of baseball and was a true blue Toronto Blue Jays fan.

Before retiring, Larry was a long-haul truck driver. He was employed with Paul’s Hauling (Keg) for many years. Larry took pride in his work and always valued and enjoyed the interaction with the many friends he met over the years. He was always there to lend a hand to those in need.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Larry may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, “Westman Cancer Centre” 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3, or to Funds for Furry Friends, 740 Rosser Ave Suite 208, Brandon, MB R7A 0K9.

As per Larry’s wishes a private family service will take place at a later date.

A Light from our household, is gone.

A voice we loved is stilled.

A place is vacant in our home

Which never can be filled.

But we can and always cherish his memory

And let it live on.
