Obituary of Valerie Wasicuna

WASICUNA: Valerie Judith "Judy" Wasicuna. Inyan Ikha Mani Win. October 31, 1950 - June 13, 2021.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Judith "Judy" Wasicuna of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation on Sunday, June 13, 2021. She is a survivor of the Birtle Residential School. Judy worked as a Health Care Aide for over 33 years.  Working for over 30 years at the Dakota Oyate Lodge where she retired in 2019.  Judy was predeceased by her parents, Daniel Wanbdiska (1990) and Hilda Pratt (1997); sister, Janice "Janie" Pratt; brother, Allen Pratt; husband Ernest "Ray" Wasicuna (2005) and daughter Ernestine "Tina" Wasicuna-Courchene (2011). Judy is survived by her siblings, Barb (Ron), Terry, Corinne (Neil), Olivia (Randy), Kenny (Dana), Dalyce and Kelly (Michelle); son James (Delonna) Pratt; daughter, Kristi (Edward) Baker; grandchildren, Dakota, Tahnee (Keith), Teton (Charity), Mary (Peter) and Jacob, and great-grandchildren, Bethany, Aysia, Kai, Alaric, Mason and Jackson. A private family service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel. Interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
