Angeline Brown

Obituary of Angeline Brown

The family of Angeline Irene Brown (nee Russin) announce her peaceful passing at her residence in Winnipeg on April 9, 2024 at the age of 98.

Angie was born in Winnipeg Beach on April 7, 1926 and it was there she met and married Ronald Brown on December 4, 1947.  Throughout their marriage they had many postings with the RCMP and raised their family in numerous locations in Manitoba and Ontario.

Angie enjoyed nature and had a love for all animals.  She had a special fondness for dogs and horses and many great times were had working the Manitoba Harness Racing Association circuit around rural Manitoba. She also enjoyed her bible studies and was a lifetime member at St. George’s Anglican Church.  She was also active in the Brandon Toast Mistress Club and was a long standing volunteer at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.

Many of Angie’s happiest times were spent at the family cottage which she and Ron lovingly built on Lake of the Woods while stationed in Kenora in 1961. Angie was always a great host and loved entertaining her family and friends. Her door was always open!

Angie spent many happy retirement years in Brandon at the family home on McDiarmid Drive.  She then resided at Riverheights Terrace and finally Sokol Manor Supportive Housing for many years.  She moved to Winnipeg in 2021 where she spent her final years at Golden Door.

Angie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a great Sister, Aunt and Friend to many.  She was always a fun lady to have around and we will miss her smile and her sense of humour which she maintained right up to the time of her passing.

A final highlight for Angie was celebrating her 98th Birthday surrounded by friends and family, she then left us, passing away peacefully in her sleep the following night.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patricia (Peter) Haertel, David Brown and Stewart (Donna) Brown; her granddaughters Tracey (Jordan) Falconer and April Stevenson (Mike Kolisnyk).  Also missing her are her greatest joys, her two great grandchildren, Carson and Courtlyn Falconer. She is also survived by her very special sister Georgie Chudo and many friends and relatives who will miss her dearly.

Angie was predeceased by her young son Reid in 1953 and her husband Ron in 2006.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private graveside service will take place and Angie will be laid to rest beside Ron and Reid at Wakefield Cemetery near Petersfield, Manitoba.

The family wishes to thank the many people involved in Angie’s care the last few years, especially the staff at Sokol Manor in Brandon and at Golden Door in Winnipeg.
