Jaymee Ashley Rollo-Benson. March 22, 1999 – May 31, 2021.       

Jaymee was born at 5:01 a.m. on March 22, 1999 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In Jaymee’s early years she was a delightful happy baby. She always had a big smile for everyone. That part of our Jaymee never ceased. Her early years were healthy ones. She was a chubby little girl. She attended Ursula and Shawn Beavis’ daycare from age 2-5 years. There she was wrapped in live music, her very first taste of live music. She was always a lover of pow wow music and as a baby would not sleep without it. Jaymee attended a few different schools in her early years, George Fitton, Betty Gibson and when we moved into our home she attended King George until Grade 4.  As those school years seemed to move fast and that education system didn’t fulfill her abilities or needs, we at first reluctantly decided a life skills program may suit her better. With the right programming, Jaymee blew us all away. It was then we discovered Jaymee was able to spell her name by looking at the correct letter of her name. We were blessed with many wonderful teachers and staff members over the years: Mary McCahon, Ron McPhail, Mattie Braden, Erin Cantelo, Rob Cullen; numerous E.A.’s and her respite staff over the years. Jaymee always had a smile to share with anyone. She especially loved sharing her infectious smile with every boy she spotted. Jaymee graduated her school programming in June of 2020. What an achievement for our girl. It was planned for her attend Cor Enterprises after graduation but alas the covid pandemic got in the way of those plans. In hindsight, I was blessed to provide all her care with no outside help over the last year. I feel blessed with that. Jaymee has touched so many lives over the years. Many of her teacher’s, E.A.’s and respite staff have become much more to our family. She taught so many staff how to do that job with a caring heart. She inspired people into that line of career, some now teachers themselves or nurses. Jaymee was a fighter. She battled many serious hospitalizations. She surprised doctors and nurses with each corner she turned, all with a smile on her face. She would show them her strength batting at the nurses, show them she could indeed pull tubes out and show them she meant business. Jaymee had the best laugh, smiles and intense light about her. It was clear she was a gift to so many and touched people’s lives.  Jaymee leaves to mourn her passing, her parents, Heather and Ed; her twin sister, Autumn; younger siblings, Erykah, Connor and Cain and older sibling, Lyric Benson and Joel Ironstand; nephews, Briere, Kingsley and Matthias, many aunts, uncles, cousins and many people of our community. We wish to thank all the staff in all her schools, all of our respite staff, home care nurses, doctors, nurses and therapists in both Brandon Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg for the care they gave Jaymee.
