Obituary of Joseph Jordens

JORDENS: Joseph “Buddy” Jordens passed away at Fairview Personal Care Home on Saturday, November 27, 2020 at the age of 86 years. Joe was born on March 7, 1934 on a farm near Sinnett, SK. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patti Lynne (née Old); children and grandchildren, Terance Jordens, Raymond Jordens (Chris, Karla [Shawn]), Dallas (Christina), Derrick, Dustin), Cynthia Jordens (Kevin, David) and Tracy Marchak (Shane,Terrence); siblings, Vern Jordens, Angela(Ed) Mihalicz, Eileen Gatin and sister-in-law, Mary Jordens as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Peter Jordens (1999) and Julia McGrath (1967) of Renfrew, Ontario; siblings: Leonard Jordens, Loretta Gerhardt (Leonard), Jean Decelle (Gabriel), Bernard Jordens; nieces, Carol Broda, Elaine Mihalicz, Michelle  Mihalicz and Cheryl Gatin; nephews, Freddy Neufeld and LeAaron Ladouceur and many Aunts, Uncles and Army Buddies. In 1955, Joe joined the Canadian Forces. He was part of the 3RCHA Gunners, RCA 1 Airborne Battery -  B Troop,  PPCLI, UN Peacekeeper- Cyprus (1974). Joe retired from the Canadian Forces in 1975. The retirement from the Canadian Forces led Joe to a new career path with CP Rail. Joe worked as an Engineering Technologist and Materials Planner up until his retirement in 1992.  Joe was our Blue Beret, Sky Jumper, Star Gazer, Rights Defender, Saviour of the Queen's Knickers (true story), Weather Guru, Ice Car Racer, World Traveller, News Junkie, Sports Nut, Cheerleader Extraordinaire, Dog Lover, Guardian of The Bank of Monopoly, Fixer of All Things (sometimes even if they weren't broken), Curious Soul, Hunter/Gatherer, Barber, BBQ Genius, Lover of Good Music (and Country), Prankster, Expert Inspector and Advisor - with impeccable penmanship, White Glove Inspector, Party Animal, Last of His Friday Morning Gunners Coffee Group.

He was an awesome Dad, Brother, Uncle, 9 x Grandpa, and 9.5 x Great Grandpa. His greatest love was reserved for family, dogs and anyone under 4 feet tall. We will miss his quick wit, warm hugs and grandpa growls. Thank you to the staff at Fairview for their care and comfort given to Dad at this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Joseph and Patti at the Legion Lounge, 560 13th Street East, on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Last Post FundThe Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
